The local Elks Lodge, No. 582 made $500 donations to both the Laramie Foster Closet and SAFE Project to assist these organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Laramie Foster Closet is currently fundraising to help further their ability to serve individuals within the Laramie community. These funds will help provide comfort items (blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, night lights, cribs, mattresses, small lamps) for foster children who are often scared to be alone in the dark.
Thyra Page, Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 582 stated “The Laramie Elks Lodge is dedicated to improving the lives of families within our community. In this, the donation helps support foster families who are working to provide stable and safe living
environments for foster children.”
The Albany County SAFE Project advocates for and empowers survivors of stalking, intimate partner, family, and sexual violence. Funds are short due to COVID-19 and the Albany County SAFE Project is currently fundraising to help further their ability to serve individuals within Albany County including the communities of Laramie, Rock River, Jelm, Bosler, and Centennial. The Laramie Elks Lodge 582 recognizes that our community extends beyond Laramie and into the smaller surrounding towns that may not have the necessary resources to support this effort. “We are pleased to support SAFE Project to help advocate for individuals that are experiencing domestic violence. The Elks strive to help others, so they are empowered to improve their lives.” said Page.

The local Elks Lodge was able to make this donation through a grant from the Wyoming State Elks Association – Hometown Grant Program. The Hometown Grant encourages lodges to apply for fund to help organizations that make a positive impact in their communities.
