Laramie–The District Court for the Second Judicial District has granted a temporary restraining order to the Albany County Democratic Party (ACDP), placing a hold on the hiring process for the Albany County Sheriff.
On September 29, ACDP filed a motion requesting a temporary restraining order on the Albany County Board of Commissioners’ September 30 deadline for a final list of candidates to replace the current Albany County Sheriff upon his retirement in January 2021.
The motion was filed after ACDP’s initial suit on the matter was filed on September 28.“We are grateful to the court for granting our request, and look forward to a robust hiring process that serves the people of Albany County. ” – Carrie Murthy, ACDP Chair.
The court’s order expires on October 15th, pending a hearing on October 14th.
The following finalists for the Albany County Sheriff position were selected by the Albany County Democratic Party Screening Committee to advance to a public candidate forum held September 28th, and ultimately a vote by the Central Committee:
