It’s currently ok to make a phone call with a handheld device while driving under Wyoming law right now but a bill being considered today would change that.
HB0211 would ban ALL use of handheld electronic devices while driving. You can’t read, write or send a text while driving currently but HB0211 would make phone calls ill-legal while driving. Using voice operated hands free technology to make or take a call would be legal and there would an exception for making a handheld phone call in an emergency.
The reason for the bill is that while it should be common sense nor to talk or text while driving, people still do it and it isn’t being done hands free. Lawmakers are hopeful further legal actions could help.
