Laurie Nichols is headed to South Dakota

Outgoing UW PResident Laurie Nichols is headed to some familiar territory when her contract with UW ends at the end of the month. Starting July 1st, she will serve in a temporary capacity as the president of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD until the national search for a new president is concluded and the schools new president is appointed. Nichols is from Colman, in southeast south Dakota and she spent more then 20 years working at South Dakota State University in Brookins just down the road from Colman. She also started her career as a high school teacher in Hill City just 40 miles from her new job in Spearfish.
