During the city council meeting last night, a concern was expressed about the change in city park rules. Councilman Charles McKinney said the midnight to 5am closure wouldn’t make a difference. The reason behind the proposed change is because the most trouble and vandAlism occurs in the parks at those late hours. Councilman McKenny said everyone shouldn’t have to have it ruined for them because of a few bad apples. LPD Assistant Chief Robert Terry said the new rules would make it easier to enforce potential suspicious activity at night instead of reacting to vandalism the next day. After passing the first reading there’s a public hearing scheduled for March 19 on this matter which also includes clarifying rules at the city parks.
