UW Swimming and Diving Returns to Pool

The Cowgirls are currently 6-1 in dual action while the men are 2-1 on the season.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 2, 2019) – The Wyoming Cowboy and Cowgirl swim teams are set to resume dual action on Thursday, Jan. 3 against UC San Diego followed by a showdown with Cal Baptist and Grand Canyon on Saturday. Thursday’s meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. MT followed by a 2 p.m. start. The Cowgirls are currently 6-1 in dual action while the men are 2-1 on the season.

Both teams are back in the pool for the first time since the conclusion of the Corbett and Missouri Invites. The Cowboys and Cowgirls swimmers broke four more pool records during the final session of the Corbett Open, while the divers closed out the weekend at the Mizzou Invite. Over all, both teams set 12 new pool records through three days of competition.

UC San Diego men enter the week with a 1-0 dual record and ranked second in the CSCAA Division II poll while the women are 1-3 in dual action and 1st in the same poll. Each team defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps while the women fell to Boise State, San Diego State and UC Davis. The Cal Baptist men are 3-0 in dual action while the women bring in a record of 2-1. The men are ranked 48th in the latest CSCAA Division I Poll. The women had victories over CSU Bakersfield and Pomona Pitzer. Grand Canyon comes in with a 3-1-1 mark on the men’s side and the women have a 4-4 record. The men are ranked 26th in the last CSCAA Division I poll.
