It’s time to have some fun. It’s time to do some giving. Toyota of Laramie is sponsoring a contest that puts an enjoyable twist on fundraising. It’s called Toyota of Laramie Cares. Beginning Oct. 1, the friendly auto dealership on Grand Avenue will donate a total of $2,000 to worthy organizations and families in need.
The program features two levels: The first is reserved for organizations and nonprofits that register and are approved by Toyota of Laramie. The organization must be located in and directly benefit Laramie. The monthly winner, chosen through a social media contest, will receive $1,500. The second is reserved for hardship cases, families or individuals. The winner will receive $500. The program will continue monthly, with the hope the dollar amount will grow with community support.
“Toyota of Laramie Cares is for anyone who can benefit from the funds being provided by us,” said Paul Atkinson, digital marketing manager. “This is going to be huge for local organizations such as nonprofits, school groups, youth athletics, faith groups and arts education – to name a few.”
Each month, Toyota of Laramie will make one official Toyota of Laramie Cares video post soliciting votes on its Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/toyotaoflaramie. There are a
number of ways to cast your vote for your favorite organization.
- Facebook – Facebook users can name the registered organization of their choice in the
comments of the Toyota of Laramie Cares posts for that month. Each Facebook user can only
vote once a day. Each comment counts as one vote in the contest.
- Text — Text the name of the registered organization of your choice to (307) 228-4470. One text
vote per day per phone number. Each text counts as one vote in the contest.
- Onsite – This is where you get to vote while browsing some of the finest vehicles on the road
today. Kick the tires and take one of the Toyota of Laramie beauties for a test run, and you’ll get
50 votes. Buy a car and you get 100 votes. Bring your car in for a repair estimate and get 25
votes and if you complete the service with Ehrlich you get 50 votes.
Winners will be announced on the Facebook page. The contest starts over the following month.
The Toyota of Laramie Cares program is another addition to the many causes that we currently support such as Salvation Army events and donating vans for school transportation.
“Our community involvement has been growing by leaps and bounds,” Atkinson said. “We decided with this event we wanted it to be driven primarily by social media with hopes the community will help grow the program.
“We’re at $2,000, but we think we can get to $6,000, $10,000 or even more with help from the community.”
