Red-shirt freshman Christopher Henry placed eighth in the men’s 10,000 meters Thursday night as Wyoming track & field started the 2018 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Clovis, Calif., at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Henry notched a team point for the Cowboys, finishing as the top freshman in the race.
Henry clocked in at 30 minutes, 24.52 seconds in the second 10,000 meters of his career. Meanwhile, sophomore Ashley Bock took 12th in the women’s 10,000 meters, checking in at 37:02.03. Senior Quinn DeStefano was right behind Bock, taking 13th at 37:05.72.
The 2018 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships continue Friday.
Cowboy senior Damon Unland looks to defend his title in the men’s hammer throw, which will start at 4 p.m. MT along with the women’s shot put as the first true field events of the meet. Track events will start at 5:30 p.m. MT with the qualifying run of the women’s 1,500 meters.
