University of Wyoming Commencement Ceremonies Set

Graduation ceremonies are set for the University of Wyoming but before graduates walk and receive their diplomas, there will a lot of ceremonies to further recognize the accomplishments of University of Wyoming students.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. Friday (May 11th) the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing will host its Sigma Theta Tau Ceremony in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium, with  convocation set to take place in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium at 2 pm.

The Veterans Services Center will have a graduation ceremony and luncheon in the Wyoming Union Ballroom at noon Friday, May 11th.

At 3 p.m. Friday afternoon the multi-cultural graduation ceremony will be held  in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

The American Indian Studies and Native American Education, Research and Cultural Center’s Native American honoring ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. May 11th at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. And then at 5:30 p.m. the College of Engineering and Applied Science convocation and professional obligation ceremony will be held in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

For the first time in many years, UW academic colleges will combine spring commencement ceremonies.

Instead of individual colleges holding their own ceremonies over two days, there will be three combined ceremonies starting tomorrow, May 12th; with all ceremonies being held in UW’s newly renovated Arena-Auditorium.  Each ceremony is scheduled to last approximately two hours, featuring a keynote speaker, student speaker, a reading of all graduates’ names and presentation of diplomas to each student.

The Commencement Ceremony schedule for Saturday, May 12th is as follows:

8:30 a.m. — College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, Arena-Auditorium.

10 a.m. — College of Law, Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.

Noon — UW graduate students from all colleges and schools, Arena-Auditorium.

3:30 p.m. — College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of Business, College of Engineering and Applied Science, College of Health Sciences, the Honors College and the School of Energy Resources, Arena-Auditorium.

6 p.m. — Army/Air Force ROTC commissioning ceremony, Performing Arts Center.
