Basecamp, a locally owned and operated Mom & Pop gear shop is pleased to announce their grand opening celebration on May 4, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
At the celebration there will be refreshments provided by Sweets Cakes & Pastry & tea from The Herb House. Store tours will be available along with clothing and equipment giveaways, sales. The first 100 people in the door will receive a complimentary gift bag.
The celebration will also feature products from small local and regional businesses to include High Plains Apparel, Kind Apparel and Adventurist Backpack Company.
While Basecamp plans on carrying popular brands in the outdoor industry such as Osprey, Outdoor Research, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, Big Agnes, Black Diamond, Fischer and
Rossignol skis they also plan to support fellow small businesses by carrying locally, Rocky Mountain made products as well.
Basecamp plans to provide online sale sand online gear rental reservations and expand it’s services to offer rentals on camping and climbing gear such as tents, backpacks, chalk bags
and crash pads. Basecamp will also offer a backpack carrier rental program for parents of babies and toddlers.
They’ve redesigned their store, the former Cross Country Connection, with a space for outdoor classes, clinics, workshops and trip planning along with a kids play area and climbing wall.
They will offer group outdoor adventures and weekly free dryland training sessions for the Nordic ski community and have partnered with Springleaf Wellness to offer Basic First-Aid and
CPR classes out.
Basecamp is one of the few female Veteran owned and operated small businesses in the outdoor industry.
Basecamp owner, Rebecca Walsh, spent 17 years in the Army, serving both on active duty and in the Wyoming National Guard before resigning her commission to focus her efforts full time on
Basecamp. As a two-time Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and former biathlete and coach for the National Guard, she’s committed to supporting the National Guard biathlon program,
hiring Veterans and offering a military discount to actively serving service members and retirees.
Walsh also founded the local hiking group, Little Laramie Hikers in 2014 and volunteers her time to encourage families with young children to explore outdoors. She owns and operates Just
Trails, with her husband, Al, and founded the popular website and podcast, Hike Like A Woman in 2015.
“For me Basecamp represents a space where people can come to plan their next adventure, enjoy the company of others, and find the right gear at the right price. It’s been a dream of mine
for years to have a physical space to do this,” Walsh said.
“We’ve put together an amazing team of friendly, knowledgeable staff and we are very excited to open our doors to the community.”
Basecamp will be open 7 days a week, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
