Albany County School District #1 Superintendent, Jubal Yennie, announced today that Kevin O’Dea was named the new principal of Laramie Junior High School starting July 1, 2017 pending formal school board approval at the April 12, 2017 school board meeting.
Mr. O’Dea currently serves as the Middle School Principal in Rawlins, Wyoming where he has been since 2015. Prior to accepting the position in Rawlins, Mr. O’Dea worked in Spearfish, South Dakota as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at the middle school level. O’Dea earned a BS in Botany from the University of Wyoming, taught middle school and high school level science for eight years, and earned an MA in Educational Administration from the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Yennie commented that Mr. O’Dea brings an understanding of the middle school model, a passion for providing quality learning programs for students, and a style of leadership that supports teacher involvement and continuous learning. He also added, “Mr. O’Dea desires to connect with parents and community in meaningful ways to ensure family engagement, and we are looking forward to Mr. O’Dea’s leading the junior high school for the foreseeable future.”
