The Laramie Outlaw hockey teams had a dynamic final weekend of 2015 on home ice playing teams from Gillette and Sheridan.
The Squirt B team (ages 9-10) played against the Sheridan Hawks B team, winning both games. Saturday’s 2-0 win was secured by third period goals by Sawyer Conklin and Landon Lotzer anchored by Bode Winn in goal, who secured the shutout. On Sunday the Outlaws maintained a one goal lead coming out of the first period to move ahead to win the game 6-4 with goals by Landon Lotzer (3) Jace Moniz (2) and Emiliano Jaime.
The Squirt A team (ages 9-10) battled against the Gillette A squad, coming away with a tie and a tough loss. Saturdays game ended in a 5-5 tie game after the Outlaws showed resilience by coming back from a 2-goal deficit. Outlaw goals were scored by Avery Hilton (2), Landon Smith and Wolf Woelk (2). The Outlaws lost their Sunday match-up, falling to the Gillette Wild 2-3. The Wild took a strong lead, heading into the 3rd period ahead by three goals. Outlaw Avery Hilton scored two goals in a third period come back attempt, with the Outlaws again showing grit but ultimately falling short.
The Laramie Bantams (age 13-14) played the Sheridan Hawks twice, winning Saturday’s tilt 1-0 on a third period goal by Jaryn Evans. The team was stout in front of a shutout performance by Joe Kelley in goal. The Outlaws ended Sundays game in a 2-2 tie with a first period goal by Caden Morrow and the game tying goal with less than 1 minute remaining by Outlaw player Evan Naughton.
On the road, the Outlaw Midgets (U18 high school team) played the Casper Oilers in Casper winning 10-1 and 9-3. The Peewees (age 11-12) took on Douglas Ice Cats in Douglas winning both games 10-0. Drake Crawford and Brennen Unchurch shut down the Douglas offense, both recording shutouts in goal for the Laramie side.
The Girls U19 game scheduled against Cheyenne for Friday, December 18th was postponed due to road closures.
