Wyoming residents who have completed hunter education instructor certification in the last three years or would like to become a hunter education instructor are invited to sign up for the upcoming Wyoming Game and Fish Department annual Hunter Education Instructor Academy. The academy will be held August 21-23 at the Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp near Dubois.

Game and Fish Commission regulation requires hunter education instructors to attend a new instructor workshop within two years of becoming certified as an instructor.

There is no fee for the academy and training with meals and lodging at the camp provided in part through a grant from the Central Wyoming Chapter of Safari Club International.

Hunter education coordinator Tristanna Bickford said that slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Bickford said the camp is designed to increase correctness of material being taught, and improve communication in teaching the hunter education program.

Interested persons can call Tristanna Bickford at 307-777-4542 to register. Hunter Education Instructor applications, forms and a checklist of the steps to certification are on the WGFD Hunter Education webpage at: http://wgfd.wyo.gov.
