Laramie Man Arrested For Second Degree Murder

The Laramie Police Department arrested 20 year old Dalton Williams for Aggravated Assault on November 1st, 2014 at 12:14 AM. The arrest stemmed from an investigation of a fight in the 700 block of North 7th Street between Williams and an unknown participant. The victim, 21 year old Joseph Michael McGowen, a University of Wyoming Student from Lander, was struck during an attempt to break up the fight and died as a result of his injuries at the Medical Center of the Rockies. Alcohol was involved.
The charge was upgraded from Aggravated Assault to 2nd degree Murder. A person is guilty of 2nd Degree Murder if the person purposely and maliciously, without premeditation, kills any human being. 2nd Degree Murder is punishable by imprisonment for not less than 20 years to life.
The investigation is continuing
